Welcome new graduate students and welcome back to our returning students!
As we approach the start of the winter quarter, the Graduate College would like to remind you of a few important academic policies, dates, deadlines and resources to help you navigate your academic program. We recommend you bookmark this information for future reference.
Academic Dates & Deadlines: Winter Quarter 2021
Please Note: The winter quarter will be 9 weeks instead of 10. The first day of winter quarter classes will be Monday, January 11, 2021. The first two weeks of classes will be fully virtual/remote, unless otherwise noted by your college/school leadership and/or academic program. Scheduled in-person or hybrid class sessions will resume in Week 3 beginning Monday, January 25, 2021. The majority of winter quarter classes will continue in a virtual/remote format.
Please refer to the Academic Calendars on the Provost’s website. You should also consult with your individual college or school officials and graduate academic advisor(s) for additional dates, deadlines and requirements.
Friday, January 8, 2021 by 4 p.m. EST – Deadline to Submit a Graduate Program Completion Form for Fall Quarter Graduates (Required for PhD/doctoral and some Master’s thesis programs)
Monday, January 11, 2021 – Winter Quarter Classes Begin (Virtual/Remote for Weeks 1-2 for most, check with your academic program)
Friday, January 15 – Deadline to Confirm Your Enrollment in your DrexelOne
Friday, January 15 by 12 p.m. EST – Deadline to Add/Drop a Course with Academic Advisor Assistance*

Academic Policies & Procedures
Please refer to the academic policies and procedures listed on both the Provost’s and Graduate College websites. Additional policies are outlined in the Student Code of Conduct, including the Academic Integrity policy and conduct process. All students should be aware of and knowledgeable of these policies and procedures.
International students (F-1 and J-1) should refer to the latest updates, policies and information on the International Students & Scholars Services (ISSS) website.
Please review the following policies:
Academic Standing: Graduate Students – Academic Standing is determined each term that a student is registered for classes and is based on both the term and cumulative GPA. A student’s academic standing is reflected on his or her permanent academic transcript. A graduate student must maintain a minimum 3.00 term and cumulative GPA to progress toward graduation. Please note that individual programs may set higher standards. Please click on the policy for definitions, actions and requirements.
Required Title IX Training for Graduate Students - Complete by January 31
Graduate students are required to complete an online training entitled, "Understanding Title IX and Respecting Individual Rights, Building Inclusive Community - Module 1," a sexual and gender-based harassment and misconduct prevention program, in order to be compliant with the University's policies for the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Students only need to complete this training once annually. More information.
Virtual Resource Fair Sessions
All new, incoming graduate quarter program students, including online students, are invited to register for the Graduate College's Virtual Graduate Student Welcome & Resource Fair sessions on January 5 & 6 as part of Dragons Unite: 2021 welcome back programming. Returning students are also welcome to register! Each virtual fair session will feature a live welcome, overview and 5-6 different offices/departments/organizations from across campus who will engage in live chat, discussion and share information about their student resources and services, encouraging any appropriate follow up.
Additional Resources & Opportunities for Graduate Students
- Visit Drexel University’s Information Technology (DUIT) website to get connected, get IT help and Connect Remotely to Drexel Resources & Services. Review Drexel’s Information Security team’s resources, best practices and available training.
- Get acquainted with Drexel Learn, Drexel’s fully-supported learning management system, Zoom video conferencing, and other remote and online teaching and learning tools.
- The Drexel University Libraries will be open at all three locations for on-campus service, with several revisions to our policies and services to ensure the health and safety of all clients and Libraries staff. Visit the Drexel University Libraries website for the latest updates on operations, hours and access and for Remote/Online Resources & Services.
- Students can register for parking free of charge on the University City and Queen Lane campuses. Visit the Business Services website for more information on how to register.
- The Center for Learning and Academic Success Services (CLASS) offers tutoring and peer academic coaching virtually. They can also support students adjusting to the remote learning environment. See Remote Learning Resources and Tips or register for one of their upcoming workshops.
- The Drexel Writing Center provides support through its Graduate Writing Consultants. Graduate students from various disciplines are available for synchronous virtual appointments.
- Students seeking information or accommodations for a documented disability should register with Disability Resources. Also see information about policies and reporting from the Office of Equality and Diversity (OED).
- Please email anti-racism@drexel.edu to make an appointment to meet with the co-chairs of the Anti-Racism Task Force to discuss any questions, concerns, ideas or feedback you may have as the University renews its efforts to support the Black community at Drexel and dismantle racism in University policies and practices. Office hours are Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m. ET.
- Review Drexel’s compliance and privacy services and compliance hotline and website.
- The Steinbright Career Development Center (SCDC) offers virtual one-on-one career counseling. Save the date for the Virtual Engineering & Technology Career Fair, set up your Handshake account, attend a resume review day, and attend a prep workshop.
- Students seeking information about applying for competitive national and international fellowships, such as Fulbright, should contact the Fellowships team.
- Summary of Health and Wellness Resources for graduate and online students, including Coping with COVID-19.
- Sign up to share your graduate work, research and experience virtually with peers at the Graduate College & Graduate Student Association’s monthly Scholars Share program.
- Invited to present your work at a virtual/online meeting or conference? Apply for a Teck-Kah Lim Graduate Student Subsidy Award.
